Who we are

Who we are

We are a specialist charity with many years’ experience of supporting and accommodating victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

We are proud to deliver high quality services that help protect victims and survivors whatever choice they make about their future.  We also work to transform the systems that can directly or indirectly harm survivors and through our training, prevention and educational work we inspire individuals and organisations to tackle the root causes of domestic abuse.

Our story

We have humble beginnings, starting life in the 1970s in a two bedroomed flat in York as York Women’s Aid. Since then we have grown to be the largest specialist charity in the North.

Our impact

We support thousands of people each year and those we support tell us that our services are life changing and sometimes life-saving.

Our team

Our team is made up of dedicated, qualified professionals and volunteers many of whom have lived experience. Each one of us is proud of the work of IDAS.
