Overview of our services

IDAS provides support and advice for victims and survivors of sexual violence and abuse across North Yorkshire.

Our ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) supports anyone over the age of 13 who has been a victim of rape or sexual violence or abuse at any time in their life, whether recently or many years ago. Our support is free, confidential and completely independent from all statutory agencies, including the police and you can contact us 7 days a week on our helpline to refer yourself or find out more.

Your support

We provide individually tailored support when and where it is needed, whether you are going through the Criminal Justice System or not. We also work with the parent/s of children under the age of 13 who are victims of sexual abuse or violence. All our ISVAs have received specialist training to support anyone regardless of your sex, gender identity, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation or disability or immigration status.
“As a Safeguarding Manager part of my role is to work with Police Officer colleagues and Partner Agencies to ensure victims of Sexual Violence are safe and receive the immediate support they need. The ISVA service offered by IDAS is an exemplary service dealing with ALL victims regardless of age and gender, and regardless of whether a Criminal Investigation is taking place. Their professionalism, knowledge of the trauma that victims endure from Sexual Violence, their understanding of the criminal Justice system combined with their dedication in working with the Police and our Sexual Assault Referral Centre is second to none ensuring we are all victim led.” – Jo Beilby, Safeguarding Manager, North Yorkshire Police.
