Our corporate partners, Jordans Solicitors, recently walked from their offices in Selby to ours in York, to raise awareness and vital funds for our charity. This fundraising event was organised by Jane Matthews, Solicitor and Head of the Abuse Department at the Yorkshire based firm, and raised £770 for IDAS.

Jane says, "As a proud partner of IDAS, Jordans Abuse and Personal Injury department joined forces to take part in a sponsored walk to raise money and awareness for IDAS and the work they do.

This was our second fundraiser and this time we decided to walk from our branch in Selby to IDAS' offices in York, which took us along the cycle trail and was a distance of 15 miles.

The weather was fine and dry at the beginning of the walk, but did end in a heavy rain shower, but this didn’t dampen our spirits as the end was in sight! We all thoroughly enjoyed the walk and were very proud to finish in less than 5 hours.

Through acting for survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence we know how important the support IDAS gives to survivors is, and we are delighted to work alongside IDAS and get involved in events to help them to be able to do the work they do.

We are very pleased to announce that we raised through sponsorship and a donation from the Directors of Jordans the sum of £770.00.

Below are a few words from our sponsored walkers:

'I was delighted to participate in the 15 mile fundraising walk for IDAS. They are a fantastic local charity who offer support to survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence throughout Yorkshire. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, even during the downpour for the last mile. A big well done to the team for all of their fundraising efforts!'
Abbey Selby, Trainee Solicitor in the Abuse Department

'As Chair of the Wellbeing Committee at Jordans Solicitors, I was eager to participate in the fundraising walk for such a superb charity as IDAS. The walk started well, a pit stop for a cuppa and teacake was welcomed about 5 miles in but, by around 10 miles in the walk became pretty tough. The group worked well together to remain motivated even on the last mile when the heavens opened buoyed on knowing that all of the effort was for such a good cause. Friends, family and colleagues were all more than happy to sponsor this walk for IDAS who provide vital support for victims of domestic abuse in the Yorkshire area.'
Gemma Hicks, FILEX and Head of the Personal Injury and Clinical Injury Department

'Participating in the 15 mile walk in support of IDAS was both challenging and fun. Local businesses, family and friends all contributed to the sponsorship which further motivated me to complete the walk as well as knowing IDAS are a charity who support individuals affected by domestic violence. Completing the walk for such a dedicated charity was a nice accomplishment and it definitely made me feel proud at the end.'
Hajra Vachhiat Apprentice Paralegal in the Abuse Department

'We will continue to support IDAS in further fundraising events and ensure that they have enough funds to continue their incredibly important work. We are all looking forward to our next fundraising event!'

Thank you to everyone that took part! Corporate support is a vital source of income for IDAS, and we are proud to have such a strong relationship with Jane and the team at Jordans Solicitors.
