We will mark the 16 days of action from 25th November – 10th December by hosting a series of webinars, in addition to local events and activities.

The 16 days of activism is part of a global campaign to end gender-based violence and abuse. Celebrated between the UN Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women (25th November) and the UN International Day of Human Rights (10th December) the campaign seeks to call everyone to action to tackle the prevailing pandemic of violence and abuse that women and girls are subjected to.

Take action to end domestic abuse and sexual violence.

Here are a selection of events from our programme.

Take a stand against domestic abuse and sexual violence
November 22 | 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Ahead of the 16 days of action to end gender-based violence (25th November 10th December), join the team at IDAS to explore the ways that you can take action to end domestic abuse and sexual violence.

We will cover how you can be an active bystander, ways that you can Champion IDAS’ work, fundraise or volunteer. As well as simple actions that you can take over the 16 days, and beyond, to tackle domestic abuse and sexual violence in your place of work or community.

IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services) is the leading specialist domestic abuse charity in the Yorkshire region. We are looking for dedicated, courageous, compassionate people to join our inspiring team of volunteers Ambassadors, Champions and Advisory Board members.

The event will be held as a Zoom webinar. You will not be visible to any of the participants. We will explain the ways that you can get involved with our work and how you can apply, there will be opportunities to ask questions.

In Conversation with IDAS Survivor Ambassadors
November 30th | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join IDAS Ambassadors in conversation about their survival journey. Ambassadors will share insights into how they moved on from the abuse, the challenges and setbacks, and how they continue to cope and recover. The road to recovery from abuse can feel isolating and overwhelming, you are not alone.

A Zoom webinar allows you to see and hear the conversation whilst remaining anonymous. There may be opportunities to ask questions.

Often, people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence lack the knowledge and confidence of where to go to get help and support.

IDAS Champions are volunteers who seek out opportunities to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the services we provide so that more people can get support if they need it. Champions choose how much time to give and which activities to undertake.
