On 23rd April, the Government will test the new emergency alert system. Any mobile phone or tablet with access to 4G or 5G network will make a loud siren noise.
The alerts aim to keep the public safe by warning of severe weather, floods or fire risks.
However, if you are trying to keep a phone hidden, the alerts could reveal the location of the phone.
This is a particular concern for victims of domestic abuse who may be keeping a secret phone hidden to help them escape in an emergency or contact people for support.
In this short video, we explain more about the alerts and how to turn them off.
